Principles of Health

The Creator has given you, as every other living creature, a body with the ability to heal itself. This ability is truly miraculous. Your body performs infinite miracles every single day, miracles that all of science and medicine can only glimpse dimly. Your DNA contains the blueprint of your body in a perfected state, and your body is always striving to be just that - perfect.

Health is your birthright. The 75 to 100 trillion cells that make up your body are each and every one designed to be healthy. Health is their natural state. When your cells are healthy, your body is healthy. Every minute you are alive, your body is busy healing itself. But it is working against impossible odds, pollution, depleted foods, toxic foods, chemicals and drugs, constant free radical attack, and so you are degenerating.

No drug can stop degeneration. No drug can bring about regeneration.

But the situation can be turned around. Nutrition can reverse degeneration and bring about regeneration. And this is something over which you have control. Give your body everything it needs to do the job it wants to do, is programmed to do, and it will do it.

What it needs to function properly is a constant and adequate supply of the full range of essential nutrients - combined with a lifestyle for health. For the complete program in detail, read my book, Light On Health.

The single most essential nutrient is oxygen. It is needed for all metabolic processes. It is the main fuel of life. You can live for months without food, days without water, but just a few minutes without oxygen and you will be dead. Disease comes about as the result of oxygen deprivation which is brought about by acidity. Acid solutions expel oxygen. Alkaline solutions absorb, contain, and transport oxygen. Acidity leads to poor circulation which further increases oxygen deprivation at the cellular level, added to which are poor breathing habits and polluted and depleted air.

An acidic, oxygen-starved body is susceptible to bacteria, viruses, free radicals, and other toxic agents. The acidic condition is brought about by nutritional deficiency which is brought about by improper diet, processed foods, depleted soils, fractionated chemical fertilizers, and the body's improperly functioning ability to assimilate, circulate, and deliver nutrients into the cells efficiently and eliminate wastes efficiently.

Doctor Arthur C. Guyton, M.D., world-renowned author of TEXTBOOK OF MEDICAL PHYSIOLOGY (used for educating medical students), said: "The first step in maintaining health is to alkalize the body. The cells of a healthy body are alkaline, while the cells of a diseased body are acidic - below a pH of 7.0. The more acidic the cells, the sicker we become. If the body cannot alkalize the cells, they become acidic and thus disease sets in. Our bodies produce acid as a byproduct of normal metabolism. But our bodies do not manufacture alkalinity, so we must supply the alkalinity from an outside source to keep us from becoming acidic and dying."

Doctor Jeff Bennert, ND, PHD, has stated that healing can only begin when the pH level is raised to and maintained at at least 7. Below that, the body is like a leaky boat, too busy patching the holes to make any progress.

Doctor Theodore A. Baroody, MD, titled his seminal book ALKALIZE OR DIE. And he means it!

Alkalization is the basis of returning the body to health. And that is how our program works. First we Alkalize. Then we Cleanse and Detoxify. We bring the body into balance (homeostasis). We Energize it. We Nourish it with the correct nutritional building blocks so that it can repair and rebuild itself naturally.

People sometimes say they don't need supplements, they're doing just fine without them. But as a matter of fact, they are already supplementing even if they aren't taking supplements. When the blood becomes too acidic, which it is always doing, because the body cannot extract enough alkalizing minerals (known as buffers or buffering agents) from the foods we eat, it takes calcium and other minerals from the bones, tissues, organs, and DNA of our cells. This is an emergency supplement process that leads to osteoporosis and other degenerative diseases and compromises the immune system, making us vulnerable to infectious diseases as well.

But if you have osteoporosis, that is a good thing in a way, because without it, you'd be dead already. If your body hadn't taken the minerals it needed from the bones to reduce the acids in your blood, those acids would have eaten through your blood vessel walls and killed you. Acid is the substance of death. Death is the process of the digestion of life by acids.

In the same regard, fat is created to store that acid that cannot be neutralized and eliminated properly and to keep it away from the tissues, and in that manner protecting the body. So fat also is a good thing.

Plaque in the arteries is a good thing too. When the blood is too acidic, and the acid begins scarring the interior walls of the blood vessels, cholesterol builds up and sticks to artery walls and protects them from the acid. High blood pressure is another life-saving strategy of the body. When the arteries becomes constricted, the heart must pump more pressure to bring the nutrients to the body parts and remove wastes.

But osteoporosis, fat, cholesterol build-up, and high blood pressure, although part of the body's strategy for survival, bring with them many negative side effects. Fat has been found to be more dangerous to health than smoking, and the dangers of osteoporosis, plaque, and high blook pressure are well-known.

Much better to take the steps necessary to eliminate the causes and reverse the degenerative process!

I'm not talking about finding better drugs, because drugs can't reverse degeneration; drugs can't cure anything. I have spent a lifetime watching loved ones and others taking duly prescribed drugs and getting sicker and sicker and dying horrible deaths in fear and pain way before their time under the best, most expensive, most intensive medical care money could buy. Drugs treat symptoms (effects) not causes, and treating symptoms without eliminating causes can only result in greater sickness, maybe not immediately, but definitely eventually, and eventually always comes much too fast. Sure, drugs can save your life in a crisis, make you feel better temporarily, ease your pain sometimes, and that part is good, but they cannot reverse degeneration. No drug can bring about regeneration, and no drug ever will. Because regeneration means rebuilding and that takes the raw materials, the nutrients. To expect regeneration without nutrition is like expecting to build a house without nails, wood, bricks, mortar, plaster, etc.

Only proper nutrition consistently applied can bring about real healing. Only when your body is nourished correctly consistently can it achieve and maintain real health.

You must supply your body on a daily basis with everything it needs to function correctly, and complete nutrition these days requires proper supplementation. Supplementation is not just an intelligent option, it is a necessity if you care about health - because you cannot get all the essential nutrients from your food, no matter how carefully you choose, no matter how naturally and organically you eat. Essential nutrients are those elements that the body needs on a daily basis in order to function correctly and cannot make or synthesize from other elements and so must be provided in the diet. And any essentail nutrient deficiency, no matter how slight or insignificant-seeming, if not corrected, will lead to sickness and pre-mature death.

How strictly you follow the guidelines for health is going to depend on how sick you are or how healthy you want to be. The deceased diet guru Georges Ohsawa used to say, "A person who is healthy can eat whatever he (or she) wants." The healthier you are, the more you can bend or even break the rules. But how many truly healthy people do you know? Not many, if any. Besides, if you were truly healthy, do you think you would want to compromise that condition? Conversely, the sicker you are, the more important it is to follow the rules.

The rules are simple and the same whether you are healthy and want to stay healthy or are sick and want to overcome disease, achieve or maintain health, lose weight, maximize fitness, stabilize blood sugar, or extend longevity. You must detoxify and cleanse, alkalize, balance and energize your body to provide it with the correct internal environment for correct functioning and supply it with proper and complete nutritional building blocks.

Give your body the chance - It will do the rest!

The guidelines for proper nutrition are not perfect. In an ideal world they would be, but the fact is our foods are depleted of essential elements, fortified with toxic chemicals, and we are constantly under free radical attack. We are routinely bombarded with more free radicals in ten minutes than our great-grandparents had to face in their entire lives. Even if you eat well, you cannot get enough anti-oxidants from your food alone to counteract the unprecedented high levels of free radicals.

Supplements are not just an intelligent option. Supplements are a necessity - if you care about health.

It all starts and ends in the mind. First you have to want it. And then you have to know you can do it. Trying isn't good enough. Trying leaves an opening for failure, and when that opening exists, failure is the likely result. Doing is positive action. Know that you will succeed and then do what it takes.

And what it takes is change. To keep doing the same things and expecting a different outcome is a kind of madness. If you want changes, you have to make changes.

Get plenty of sunshine

Think properly and maintain a proper attitude

Eat whole live food

Drink vegetable juices, organic and freshly made

Eat mostly vegetables, raw as much as possible, some cooked, emphasis on green leafy

Eat some whole grains, brown rice, millet, kasha

Eat some meat, fish, and poultry - minimize or eliminate red meat and be sure the fish is wild, not farm-raised

Eat eggs, raw, poached, boiled, cooked in butter at low temperature - but never fried

Eat organic, whole food

Take a complete, high-level supplement program


Don't drink carbonated beverages

Don't drink caffeinated beverages

Don't drink alcoholic beverages

Don't drink sugared beverages

Don't eat refined carbohydrates (white flour products, pasta, pastries, baked goods in general)

Don't eat processed foods (Jack LaLanne, the fitness guru still doing exhibitions of strength well into his nineties, said if it's man-made, don't eat it. If it comes in a box don't eat it. If it comes in a package, can or bottle, don't eat it.)

Don't eat sugar (Read labels - There's sugar in most everything. But if we're not eating processed foods, we don't need to worry about the labels, do we?)

Don't use artificial sweeteners, diet drinks, diet products, products containing artificial sweeteners, hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, vegetable proteins, "natural" flavorings

Don't eat margarine

Don't cook with oils - The healtiest oils turn deadly when exposed to heat.
