Being
overweight carries with it many risks, foremost being heart disease,

But losing

intake often do not lose weight at all, or lose it only very slowly.
Because the human body has a mechanism that slows the metabolism
when caloric intake is reduced, causing the body to hold onto its
fat as a defense against famine. This metabolic slowdown makes it
very difficult, if not impossible to lose weight.
Drinking diet
sodas slows down the metabolism even more. Diet sodas can
actually make you gain weight even though they have little
or no calories, because the acidic level of the sodas slows the
metabolism and fat is created to store the acids and protect the
body tissues from them. Also, diet products, because of their failure
to deliver nutrition, increase hunger, resulting in more eating
of more calories.
There are many
diets out there, and most of them will cause you to lose some weight,
for a while. But most of them are unsafe, because when you cut back
on your food, you also cut back on the supply of nutrients your
body needs.
When you metabolize
your own fat, your body tends to become very acidic because the
toxins and acids stored in the fat are released, which is a very
uncomfortable, sick feeling, and also conducive to disease. Not
getting enough nutrients, especially minerals, while dieting, can
lead to serious health problems. Even if you do lose weight initially,
you are likely to put it right back on again, often even more, when
you go back to eating normally.
