Losing Weight Safely

Being overweight carries with it many risks, foremost being heart disease, the #1 killer in the US, cancer, the #2 killer, iatrogenics (doctor- and hospital-caused death), the #3 killer (The fatter you are the more you go to doctors, which gives them more opportunity to kill you.), and diabetes, the #4 killer. Other health risks of being overweight include: Arthritis, especially of the lower spine, hips, and knees; hernia; gout; varicose veins; respiratory illnesses; gynecological problems.

Getting rid of excess fat lowers the risks for all disease, and can give you many more years of life.

But losing weight is not easy, not simply a matter of cutting calories or getting more exercise. People who exercise and at the same time reduce caloric intake often do not lose weight at all, or lose it only very slowly. Because the human body has a mechanism that slows the metabolism when caloric intake is reduced, causing the body to hold onto its fat as a defense against famine. This metabolic slowdown makes it very difficult, if not impossible to lose weight.

Drinking diet sodas slows down the metabolism even more. Diet sodas can actually make you gain weight even though they have little or no calories, because the acidic level of the sodas slows the metabolism and fat is created to store the acids and protect the body tissues from them. Also, diet products, because of their failure to deliver nutrition, increase hunger, resulting in more eating of more calories.

There are many diets out there, and most of them will cause you to lose some weight, for a while. But most of them are unsafe, because when you cut back on your food, you also cut back on the supply of nutrients your body needs.

When you metabolize your own fat, your body tends to become very acidic because the toxins and acids stored in the fat are released, which is a very uncomfortable, sick feeling, and also conducive to disease. Not getting enough nutrients, especially minerals, while dieting, can lead to serious health problems. Even if you do lose weight initially, you are likely to put it right back on again, often even more, when you go back to eating normally.

Fat People Are Starving to Death

They are always hungry. They can never be satisfied, no matter how much they eat, because they are eating empty foods depleted of nutrition to which they have become addicted. It's not their fault. They are the victims of the highly paid PhDs of marketing and the master chemists of agriculture and food processing.

The more they eat, the hungrier they are, because their bodies know they are starving and for this reason keep them hungry and hold on to fat.

But you start getting real and complete nutrition, wonderful things happen. Fat disappears. When you get enough real nutrition, cravings disappear.

Being overweight is a metabolic disorder caused by nutritional deficiency. If you are eating over 3000 calories per day and not getting enough nourishment, how can you expect to get enough nourishment dieting on 800 calories per day? You can't. That's why dieting can give you short term results but can never work in the long run.
